It works fine but I wasn't sure which was the coarse side and which was the fine side as it did not come with instructions on how to use ( I did watch the video but still couldn't tell) could you use it wet?

It's an effective whetstone.
My primary use is to knock the burrs off my axe.
Great maintenance stone but you will need to use it quite often with the grit grades.
It's large enough to fit in my hand comfortably and small enough to fit in my pocket if needed. The dual coarseness really allows you to hone your edge.
